We dispose of commercial food waste for our customers in the gastronomy sector, with a focus on unpackaged food and leftovers. We provide all services related to food waste disposal, from providing cleaned bins and other containers, logistics services with our bin taxi, to the utilization in our biogas plants. Our customers are typical gastronomy businesses, including hotels, restaurants, pubs, large kitchens, canteens, and cafeterias that do not have access to a regular bio-waste bin from the city or county. We provide our customers with commercial bio-waste bins and other containers. The price for food waste disposal can be obtained easily from our representatives. By the way, we also dispose of liquid and cooked food waste from the gastronomy sector. Are you wondering how the food waste is disposed of?
1. Collection of food waste in provided bins and containers
2. Transportation of food waste by waste collection services and tonne taxi to disposal plants and biogas plants
3. Crushing of food waste
4. Utilization of food waste in biogas plants for the production of biogas
5. Treatment of the biogas and injection into the natural gas grid or production of electricity from the biogas and injection into the power grid
6. Use of the heat generated by the biogas plant for wood drying, heating of residential and commercial buildings, etc.
7. Transport of organic, low-energy residual materials from the biogas plant as fertilizer for agriculture.
8. Cleaning of bins, containers, and packaging and reintroduction into the collection cycle. Illustration of a biogas plant.
The majority of food waste from our gastronomy customers is collected in MGB 240 and 120 waste bins and is picked up by us according to an ecological travel plan and taken to nearby recycling facilities. These waste bins have a capacity of 120 or 240 liters, depending on their designation. Of course, each gastronomy establishment can also order several of these bins. For cooking oil disposal, we use special containers, namely small grease containers.

We also dispose of used cooking oil, cooking oil, and used grease from gastronomy. In addition to food waste, we also collect used grease containers on the same collection route. However, we do not utilize old frying oil and cooking oil in the biogas plant. Instead, used cooking oil is taken to our disposal plant for cooking oil and ultimately for ecological recycling to biodiesel. This reduces costs and helps the environment. Our focus for grease collection and disposal is not only on frying oil and frying fat, but we also dispose of olive oil, rapeseed oil, and sunflower oil in an ecological and efficient way. Here is the list of cooking oils for our disposal and grease recycling:
Along with food waste and cooking oils, a considerable amount of used glass is also generated in gastronomy, such as wine bottles, hollow glass for olive oil, or used glass from spirits. Bioservice Nord offers the disposal of used glass in parallel with the collection of food waste and cooking oils. Our goal is to provide a comprehensive service to our clients as disposing of used glass can be a time-consuming and often unpopular task for gastronomy staff. For the disposal of used glass, we use MGB 240 liter waste bins.
It is also possible to dispose of packaged food from gastronomy with us. Whether expired food, damaged goods, incorrect orders or remaining stock before the business is closed for vacation - BSN BioService Nord GmbH also handles packaged food well. The food to be disposed of can be completely utilized with our unpacking system. With packaged food, we can handle all common packaging types such as plastic, film, glass, or cans. The usable organic contents are also taken to our biogas plants after unpacking. The packaging is sorted and recycled according to the packaging type. Simply let us know when signing the contract whether you want to dispose of packaged or unpackaged food, and we will provide you with the appropriate bins.
We have an extensive processing network for food waste. Our numerous proprietary or contractual biogas facilities in Heinfelde and Börger process the food waste delivered to us within the scope of the recycling process. The resulting biogas is either processed and fed directly into the natural gas pipeline or it is converted to electricity and fed into the power grid, depending on the facility. The generated process heat is utilized for heating nearby residential buildings, wood drying, etc., depending on the location. The resulting organic material is spread as fertilizer on contractual farmland as digestate.
With our approximately 40 small trucks, we collect the waste-filled bins from our gastronomy customers. This is done according to an ecological and economical route plan, so that the food waste, used grease, and used glass can be processed as close as possible to the gastronomy. During these tours, the filled bins and containers are immediately replaced with cleaned empty packaging. This powerful transportation network covers the entire northern German region, including Hamburg, Bremen, Hanover, Oldenburg, etc. Our experienced truck drivers often drive the same routes.
As a specialist waste disposal company, we are extensively certified for the transportation and processing of food waste and used grease. We have all the necessary permits to comply with the Commercial Waste Ordinance and the corresponding regulations. These certificates include the EU certificate for used cooking oils, KAT 3 approval, and the sustainability certificate REDcert-EU.
